Ah~ I wanted to do a pic like this for a while! My idea was to make a realistic background which was very soothing and peaceful, and then have a small cute character with a simple calm and relaxed expression. (So no, the bunny isn't an afterthought, in fact, but the first thought )
Anyway, this is actually a "practice" picture, because as I was working I came up with a better layout/color scheme/etc which I'd like to do in the same style. So I cut this one short, but I think it's polished enough to go in my gallery instead of scraps. So please give suggestions I can carry to the next version, I already plan to use photo reference to get better perspective/plant life, and replace the rabbit with a different sort of character, most likely!
I think this is my first time doing a largely scenery pic like this...! (So go easy on me XD haha~) Or well, I guess once before, but that was from life and it rained so I had to stop T-T) But I like doing this sort of scene, it reminds me of playing in the forest when I was little (My descriptions are way too long and rambley, aren't they?? orz)
EDIT: uggggggg whyyy do the colors always look so much different in firefox T^T I swear the next one will have better colors, and that in photoshop, this looks a lot better >___<
Nice to see you painting! It's good to know your major isn't sucking away ALL your painting time.
I'd move the rabbit's head up on this so it overlaps the darker area behind him. That way you'd get a nice clear contrast and it'd be easier to immediately notice him.
Thanks for the comment missy!! I'll be doing plenty of painting on.. my Jesuses! orz
Hm well~ I considered doing that, but I wanted to have him kinda understated, like he doesn't grab your attention immediately, but still in a place where you won't miss him either...! I wonder if I made the wrong choice!!!
